A Better Way to Stop School Violence
At a school, violence can erupt at any moment. School violence comes in many forms ranging from active shooters to physical altercations between students. The problem has gotten so big that federal, state, and local authorities are working with concerned citizens to find ways to protect our students and teachers from violence. The (STOP) School Violence Act is a great example of legislation aimed at helping schools identify and implement technology that will stop school violence before it happens. Empirical evidence shows that traditional security measures like controlling access to buildings, installing metal detectors, and deploying on-site security are effective but unfortunately, many educators still don’t feel safe inside their own buildings. Pinpoint’s INSTANTalarm®5000 was designed to give your staff peace of mind that they aren’t alone when a situation breaks out. Our solution will provide your staff with a reliable, portable, easy to use lifeline that they can use when they need help or fear for their safety.
The Pinpoint INSTANTalarm®5000 is a life-safety system. That’s why our solution uses proven technology that will be reliable in your schools. Schools offer unique challenges due to the multiple corridors, sprawling layouts, the types of building materials used, and the abundance of wireless devices, all of which will wreak havoc on Wi-Fi signals. To make sure your system will be reliable Pinpoint uses infrared signaling and hard-wired sensors.
When one of your teachers or administrators identifies a potential threat, time is of the essence. It’s critical that your response team is dispatched to the exact location the alert came from. The last thing you want is an error caused by a Wi-Fi issue. Systems that are based on Wi-Fi use triangulation calculations to determine the location and are prone to errors due to weak signals and interference. To make sure help is sent to the correct location Pinpoint uses infrared technology and hard-wired sensors.
Pinpoint’s ID badge holder or belt-mounted device are great solutions because they provide an easy to use, discreet way to call for help. There is no fumbling around with your cellphone or maneuvering to access a panic button. Your staff will have peace of mind that help will be on the way at the touch of a button.
The Pinpoint INSTANTalarm®5000 system allows for multiple levels of alerts. Many of our customers configure one button to request assistance from school personnel, and the other button to notify the police. Being able to issue a request for assistance before an incident turns violent is a key component of reducing school violence. Pinpoint’s customizable alerts let you configure the system in a way that best meets your needs.
Security Check Point
Pinpoint can be configured to manage and monitor that your security team and or resource officer is moving around your facility as per your security plan. The systems will require a check-in via a badge tap at specified times and locations throughout your school.
Your teachers want the protection of having a personal alarm. However, what they don’t want is to be tracked as they move about your school. The Pinpoint INSTANTalarm®5000 will only send location information when activated by your staff member. Once activated, the device will be tracked as it moves about your school.
Alarm History Management
Pinpoint’s comprehensive reporting systems keeps track of all alerts and will help you identify problem areas at your facility. You’ll also be able to see how many incidents were de-escalated or prevented, evaluate response times, and analyze other information related to how the system is being used.
Security integrators love Pinpoint because it’s easy to integrate with existing security systems. We’ve built out connectivity to many different manufacturer’s security cameras, video surveillance systems, CCTV, door access controls, motion sensors, lighting controls, and many other devices.
